Weingut Rebhalde – Roter Räuschling Amphore (AOC Zürichsee)

One of the rarest wines in Switzerland — and arguably the world. Roter Räuschling is a near-extinct natural mutation of the classic Räuschling grape, with only 17 ares remaining in existence. The Hohl family at Rebhalde are among its last custodians, and this amphora-aged expression is a testament to their commitment to preserving Swiss viticultural heritage.

Bouquet: Vivid and complex, with layered aromas shaped by nine months of skin contact in a traditional Spanish tinaja — expect dried stone fruit, wild herbs, a distinctive tannic texture, and a subtle oxidative depth that evolves beautifully in the glass.

Palate: Lively and multi-dimensional, with the grape's signature refreshing acidity at the core, framed by the structure of extended maceration and the purity of amphora aging. Long, mineral, and deeply expressive.

Vinification: 100% Roter Räuschling. Destemmed and placed as a mash with 10% whole clusters into a traditional Spanish tinaja (clay vessel). After fermentation, topped and left on skins for nine months. Gently pressed in July, transferred to stainless steel for stabilization, bottled end of April, and aged a minimum of one year in bottle before release.

Farming: Certified Organic · Biodynamic

Pairings: Best enjoyed with grilled fish, aged cheeses, charcuterie, or simply contemplated on its own — a wine that rewards patience and attention.
